Maria Aragon, 10 years of age, has now performed a duet with the biggest pop star in the world in Lady Gaga, and now the Prime Minister of Canada. In the same year. I don't know you, but I can say with certainty that you have not done that. Regardless of your musical tastes or political views, it's a pretty big deal. Harper is the Prime Minister; fact, and Lady Gaga's Born This Way is the biggest song on the planet; also fact. Let's say you had performed a duet with both the biggest pop star in the world AND the Prime Minister in the same year when you were 10. This is how that would have gone...

If you were 10 in 1968, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and likely would have done "Hey Jude" with the Beatles. You'd still be telling that story.

If you were 10 in 1969, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and while "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies was about to hit it big, you would most likely have been performing, once again, with The Beatles. This time it would have been "Get Back".

If you were 10 in 1970, specifically in late March, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and then lent your vocals to Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters"... this only because "Let It Be" was a few weeks away. Then came "American Woman".

If you were 10 in 1971, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and most likely with Janis Joplin's "Me & Bobby McGee".

If you were 10 in 1972, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and then would have performed the 8-minute gem known as "American Pie" by Don McLean. That would have been good as I know you know the words to that one.

If you were 10 in 1973, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and then while I have no idea who out of these three would have held the title of biggest pop star in the world, your duet would have likely been with either Carly Simon on "You're So Vain", with Elton John on "Crocodile Rock", or with Roberta Flack on "Killing Me Softly".

If you were 10 in 1974, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and apparently also belted out "Seasons in the Sun", by someone named Terry Jacks?

If you were 10 in 1975, (Trudeau had a good run), you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and then joined The Eagles for "Best of my Love". Apparently I know nothing about the mid-70's as I have never heard of this song either. Sorry. Desperado I like. Maybe it wasn't a hit.

If you were 10 in 1976, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and then belted out "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)" with The Four Seasons. That was 1976? They still played that at the clubs in the late 90's. Awesome.

If you were 10 in 1977, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and then, sorry if this hurts... but you would have joined ABBA for "Dancing Queen". You were 10, remember. It's okay.

If you were 10 in 1978, then you would, like everyone else, have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and then take your pick of songs... but there's no way you were not hooking up with The Bee Gees. They were that big.

If you were 10 in 1979, this time of year, you would have performed a duet with Pierre Trudeau, and, lucky you, would have belted out Gloria Gaynor's timeless "I Will Survive". Good times.

If you were 10 around this time in 1980, then your duet would almost have been with Joe Clark. That was a small window, so more likely you would have been back at the piano with Pierre again. Your song with "the biggest band in the world" would probably have been a toss-up between Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" and Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".

If you were 10 in 1981, you would have performed with Pierre Trudeau, and, if you were lucky... joined Kool & the Gang for "Celebration". That or REO Speedwagon. Or Dolly Parton's "9 to 5".

If you were 10 in 1982, you would have performed with Pierre Trudeau, and likely rocked out to Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'N Roll".

If you were 10 in 1983, you would have performed with Pierre Trudeau, and then joined MJ for, well take your pick between "Billie Jean" or "Beat It".

If you were 10 in 1984, you would still be at the piano with Pierre Trudeau, and while MJ was still the biggest thing on the planet, you know Van Halen's "Jump" was probably more in your range.

If you happened to be 10 during the months of July and August in 1984, then your political duet would have been with Prime Minister John Turner. Your "biggest pop star in the world" duet would likely have been with Prince on "When Doves Cry".

If you were 10 in 1985, you would have performed with Brian Mulroney, and then hit the stage with either Madonna on "Crazy For You", or with Phil Collins on "One More Night". Both solid.

If you were 10 in 1986, you would still be chilling with Mulroney, and then, with all due respect to Mr. Mister and Starship, would likely have performed "Kiss" with Prince.

If you were 10 in 1987, the Prime Minister was still Mulroney, and your duet with Bon Jovi on "Living on a Prayer" would have been epic.

If you were 10 in 1988, then yes, you would have performed with Brian Mulroney - the GST still a few years away... and then you would have teamed up with the Wham-less George Michael for either "Faith" or "Father Figure". He was huge in '88.

If you were 10 in 1989, then you would have performed with Brian Mulroney, and then probably hooked up with Paula Abdul for "Straight Up". You just missed NKOTB.

If you were 10 in 1990, then you would have performed with Brian Mulroney, and then, it's true... you would have been the the 6th member of the New Kids... performing "Step by Step" and loving it.

If you were 10 in 1991, then you would have performed with Brain Mulroney, and then, as you were a bit early around this time of year for Bryan Adams "Everything I Do", you most likely have been party of the factory known as C + C and done some vocals on "Gonna Make You Sweat". Actually I don't know if there are any words in that song.

If you were 10 in 1992, then you would have performed with Brian Mulroney... and then, toss up... you were either putting your clothes on backwards to chant "Jump, Jump" with Kris Kross... or you were shaving your head and joining Right Said Fred on "I'm Too Sexy". Great year.

If you were 10 in 1993, then you may have had a chance, however unlikely, to duet with Kim Campell. You would also have awkwardly tried to sing along to Snow's "Informer", even though you didn't know the words.

If you were 10 in 1994, you would have been performing with Jean Chretien, then you'd see "The Sign"... and have the wonderful opportunity to duet with Ace of Base.

If you were 10 in 1995, Jean Chretien would still be your Prime Minister, and then the MJ never to be known as MJ, Montell Jordan... would ask you to join him for "This Is How We Do It".

If you were 10 in 1996, then you would have performed with Jean Chretien, and then you would not have been required to sing along at all with the biggest song on the planet. It was "The Macarena". Just do the dance and you're good.

If you were 10 in 1997, then your political duet would still have been with Chretien, but this time your "biggest pop star on the planet" duet would have been with, lucky you, NOT with Spice Girls or Hanson... but with B.I.G. on Hypnotize. Hold it down.

If you were 10 in 1998, then you would have performed with Jean Chretien, and you would most certainly be getting "Jiggy Wit It".

In 1999, being 10 years of age and performing with the Prime Minister would mean you were at the piano with Jean Chretien, and on the mic next to Ricky Martin on "Living La Vida Loca".

If you were 10 in the year 2000... then your political duet would have been with Jean Chretien, and your celebrity hook-up would have been with Destiny's Child on "Say My Name".

That's enough for now.
